Candle Holders and Advent Pyramids

The Advent Pyramid was the center piece of the Christmas
celebration in the Erzgebirge region of Eastern Germany. In festive glow,
the upward-moving warmth from the candles turns the different levels of groups
of figures. Each Christmas Pyramid was uniquely made by craftsmen in their
family business and was used to decorate their home during the Advent period.
Only later in the first decade of the twentieth century were they made and sold
commercially. It's not Christmas in our house until the Pyramid is set up!
